SPUG-VISAYAS IS ISO 9001:2000 CERTIFIED

SPUG Visayas was awarded the ISO ISO 9001:2000 Certification in ceremonies held on 18 December 2007 in Cebu City. Mr. Edmundo A. Veloso, Jr., SPUG Visayas Operations Department Manager, received the certificate from Mr. Paul Bagatsing of Anglo Japanese American (AJA) Registrars, Inc. the independent quality system certification body commissioned to undertake the ISO assessment for SPUG Visayas. Mr. Veloso then turned over the certification to Mr. Lorenzo S. Marcelo, SPUG Vice-President, who was on hand to witness the event. The ISO certification shall be presented to President Cyril C. Del Callar in a separate ceremony at the National Power Head Office in Quezon City.

The ISO certification covers eighteen (18) land based power plants, two (2) barges, and the SPUG Visayas Regional Office. The ISO 9001:2000 Certification for Quality Management Systems is applicable for organizations which provide products or services, and provide a number of requirements which an organization needs to fulfill ultimately to achieve customer satisfaction. An organization is required to turn out consistent products and services which meet customer expectations; and should have a continual, planned improvement of the Quality Management System.
