Summit on Private Sector Participation (PSP) Program in NPC-SPUG Areas
A high-level summit on the on-going PSP program in NPC-SPUG’s fourteen 1st Wave Areas is scheduled to be held on 07 December 2007 at the Solarium, National Power Corporation Head Office. DOE Undersecretary Melinda L. Ocampo, NEA Administrator Edita S. Bueno, PSALM President Jose C. Ibazeta, and ERC Chairman Rodolfo Albano are expected to grace the summit.
Also invited to the summit are the General Managers and Board President of the fourteen electric cooperatives, the six new power providers (NPPs) in the eight islands, and the International Finance Corporation, the transaction advisor, contracted by NPC to assist in the PSP program. Private sector participation in the provision of electric power in the fourteen 1st Wave SPUG Areas is a program of the Department of Energy.
Included in the fourteen 1st Wave SPUG Areas are the provinces of 1) Occidental Mindoro, 2) Oriental Mindoro, 3) Mainland Palawan, 4) Marinduque, 5) Tablas, 6) Romblon, 7) Catanduanes, 8) Masbate, 9) Bantayan, 10) Camotes, 11) Siquijor, 12) Basilan, 13) Sulu, 14) Tawi-Tawi
