A 100 kW solar power plant was successfully constructed at the NPC-SPUG Minuyan Office, San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan. The construction of the 100 kW Solar Power Plant is part of the government’s effort which aims to address climate change with special emphasis on the adaptation to and the mitigation of climate change as well as the improvement of access to Clean Energy.
The said project is a concerted effort between Government of the Philippines (GOP) and the Government of Japan (GOJ). It was made possible through the aid of the Government of Japan’s Programme Grant Aid for Environment and Climate Change to put up solar Photovoltaic (PV) facilities as net-metering project in the Philippines by which National Power has been chosen to be one of the beneficiary-agencies. A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was made between NPC and DOE to govern the rights and obligations of the parties to give life to this project.
The plant is expected to serve the requirement of the Minuyan Facility and any excess power will be sent through the MERALCO grid. As agreed, MERALCO had installed its Net Metering to determine the energy to be exported to them.
The 100 kW solar plant, which was installed under the supervision of Kanematsu Corporation, was completed last 22 April 2016 and is now ready for operation. With the installation and operation of the 100 kW Solar Power Plant, NPC will enjoy the benefits to be derived from the operation of this solar PV in the long run.
