SPUG Donates 7,163 Steel Drums to Various Government Agencies in 2007 (08 Feb. 2008)
SPUG donated a total of 7,163 empty steel drums to different government agencies amounting to P429,780.00 ( at P60.00 each) in the year 2007 through its Environmental and Community Relations Program. Beneficiaries of the program are Local Government Units at the barangays, municipal, and provincial level; Health Offices, Stations, as well as agricultural and fishing cooperatives etc. Request for donations are accompanied by resolutions or endorsements from the head or the governing body of the agency concerned; and are approved by SPUG Vice-President Lorenzo S. Marcelo. The program is being undertaken in coordination with the Asset Disposal Division of the National Power Corporation.
These drums, which were originally used as diesel and bunker oil containers by SPUG’s plants and barges, are recycled as trash cans, septic tanks, fuel receptacles, bouy markers, fences etc by the recipient LGUs and agencies.
In 2006, SPUG donated as total of 6,730 empty drums amounting to P403, 780.00 through the same program.
