PGMA INAUGURATES 3 NEW MINI-GRID DPP's AT CAMARINES SUR
Let there be LIFE, not only LIGHT to far-flung areas!!!
This has been the battle cry of the NPC-SPUG personnel committed to spur economic development to areas not connected to transmission main grid; the rallying point to call for complete and total rural electrification and energization of all barangays. The vantage point where all vague issues regarding electrification projects are debated with, and settled upon with dispatch-all for one purpose: Deliver the good; fulfill the dream. The dream of the "Islander" to live relatively in comfort, if not at par with others in urban area, slowly came to life with the completion of the new three(3) DPP's in Lahuy & Quinalasag Islands in Camarines Sur .
The electrification of Lahuy Island,Quinalasag Island and North Lagonoy was a joint project between and among the NPC, NEA, and CASURECO IV. The construction of the modular powerhouse and the installation/erection of electro-mechanical equipment started last August 2006 and were completed last April 2008. NPC provided the total budget cost to the tune of P87 M for the supply of materials, labor and of the distribution lines and power plants. NEA and CASURECO IV, on the other hand, provided the design and labor for the construction and commissioning of the said power plants.
The new DPP's constructed in the home of pristine natural beauty, sandy beaches and of land of caves and waterfalls, are now located at the following strategic areas namely: the 150 Kw in Brgy. Dangla, Garchitorina; the 120 Kw in Brgy. Gata, Caramoan; and the 35 Kw in Brgy. Haponan. with the total lenght of 105 km electric distribution lines, which were implemented by the CASURECO IV, these power plants will energize twenty(20) barangays in the following places: 8 recipient barangays in Garchitorina, Quinalasag Island, 4 in Caramoan Lahuy Island, 1 in Haponan Island, Caramoan; and 7 recipient barangays in North Lagonoy.
The successful INAUGURATION AND CEREMONIAL SWITCH-ON of the said DPP's, held at Brgy. Oring, Lahuy Island, Caramoan, Camarines Sur last 05 May 2008, was graced and attended by no less than President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Secretary. Angelo T. Reyes; NPC President Cyril C. Del Callar; Congressman Arnulfo P. Fuentebella - Deputy Speaker-House of Representative; Congressman. Datu Arroyo; Governor L-Ray Villafuerte; Mr. Lorenzo S. Marcelo, Vice President-SPUG; Mr. Joe Seguban,Eng'g Director, NEA; Mr. Glicerio S. Alpajora, Manager, Luzon Operations Department-SPUG; Mr. Rene B. Barruela, Manager, Project Management Division-SPUG; and Mr. Serafin D. Marcaida, Manager, Catanduanes, Masbate Operation Division-SPUG.
This just goes without saying that today, not tomorrow, is the time to form strategic partnerships with other agencies of the government whose primary objective is
geared towards rural electrification; so they can help us reach our ultimate goal of having total and complete energized barangays come 2010.
