SPUG AT PRESENT


NPC-SPUG operates 317 generating units with total rated capacity of 147.675 MW in 86 areas. This nationwide operation is composed of 92 land-based diesel power plants, 1 hydroelectric plant, 1 hybrid wind turbine farm and 11 barge-mounted mobile power plants. It serves 78 island grids and 8 isolated grids catering 3,330 barangays in 192 municipalities. It has 42 customers consisting of 39 electric cooperatives and 3 local government units.


Presently, 20 or 28% of the island grids provide 24-hour electric service, while the remaining 52 or 72% of the grids are operating at less than 24 hours as shown below:

In 2005, NPC-SPUG generated a total of 494,845.461 MWH with aggregate energy sales of 503,222.621 MWH (including power purchased from the IPPs). The average fuel consumption rates in 2005 for Luzon (including rented gensets), Visayas and Mindanao were 0.285 li/kWh, 0.318 li/kWh and 0.309 li/kWh, respectively. NPC-SPUG absorbed approximately PhP 2.6 billion in financial losses, net of proceeds from the UC-ME in 2005.
