SPUG-MINDANAO HOLDS SAFETY
INSPECTION
AND ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION SEMINAR
(September 2008)
The Training and Development Department conducted a seminar on Safety Inspection and Accident Investigation last September 22-23, 2008 at Marco Polo Hotel Davao City. The two-day seminar was designed specially for designated safety and other concerned personnel and was aimed:
· To assist the participation on recognizing the different hazards present on their workplace
· To help keep employees paused on health and safety.
· To train participants prepare a checklist for specific hazards categories and conduct through inspection of work area leading to hazard minimization.
The accident investigation phase of the program presented a practical approach to investigating workplace accidents by emphasizing how to find the root cause(s), conduct an investigation, and make effective recommendations to prevent similar occurrences from happening again.
The seminar was attended by the designated safety and security officers from SPUG areas such as PB 119, Basilan DPP, Jolo DPP, Luuk DPP, Siasi DPP, PB 108, OM-MOD, Balimbing DPP, Manuk-Mankaw, Sibutu, Tandubas, West Simunul, Bongao, Mapun, Talicud, Hikdop, Dinagat, Loreto, Abad Santos, Balut, Ninoy Aquino, Kalamansig, PB 111 and SPUG-MOD. Resource speaker is Engr. Jaime C. Reyes, General Manager, Insafety Inc., DOLE Accredited Safety Consultant and former NPC Employee.
The practical exercises were conducted at Power Barge 104 wherein safety hazards where identified by the group and submitted the barge management. The said seminar was also attended by Mr. Alejandro A. Argel, Chief Security Officer and Acting Corporate Safety Officer Mr. Romeo G.
