GROUND BREAKING FOR NEW POLILIO DPP SITE (29 August 2008)

President Cyril C. Del Callar led the groundbreaking ceremonies held on 29 August 2008 for the construction of the new Polilio Diesel Power Plant, in Barangay Tamulaya on Polilio Island. The new power plant under construction, which will house two (2) new additional 500 kilowatt diesel power generating sets, is situated around 6.5 kilometers from the Port of Polilio.
The project, which is expected to be completed by March 2009, shall greatly enhance the capacity and reliability of NPC-SPUG’s service in the Island of Polilio. Polilio is among the areas being served by NPC-SPUG in pursuit of its mandate by law to undertake the electrification of areas not connected to the main transmission grid, also referred to as Missionary Areas.
Also present during the ceremonies was Vice-President Lorenzo S. Marcelo who headed the NPC-Small Power Utilities Group (NPC-SPUG) contingent. NPC-SPUG personnel and officials present were NPC-SPUG Luzon Operations Manager Mr. Glicerio S. Alpajora, Marinduque/Quezon/Northern Luzon Operations Manager Mr. Perfect A. Llorente, and Polilio DPP Plant-in-Charge Mr. Arthur A. Aganan, among others.
Governor Rafael B. Nantes of the Province of Quezon, Mayor Isarme A. Bosque of Polilio, Mayor Rogel E. Postor of Panukalan, Mayor Gil P. Establecida of Burdeos, and GM Victor R. Cada of QUEZELCO II were also in attendance.
