On 30 January 2009, thirty-four (34) strong and generous NPC Visayas employees became volunteer blood donors in response to the constant demand for blood supply in the community. A total of 14,850 cc of blood was extracted, consequently, pulling-up the blood supply-availability in the region. It is a relief to know that a pint of blood from a single donor may serve three (3) lives.

The effort was in coordination with the Philippine National Red Cross-Eastern Visayas Regional Blood Center (PNRC-EVRBC), which provided their services and equipment under the management of Dr. Amour Ceilo A. Cantillas, M.D.

Mr. Edmundo A. Veloso, Jr., Manager, SPUG Visayas, a consistent blood donor himself since the inception of the blood-letting activity of SPUG Visayas in 2006 believes that donating blood is not a mere activity  just because there is a program to satisfy. But more than that is the sense of fulfillment that a part of you is meant to save and sustain life. And "It is healthy!" was his usual enthusiastic reassurance to the would-be donor employees.

The blood-letting initiative of SPUG Visayas is a yearly outreach undertaking as a commitment to help ensure sufficient availability of blood supply for those in need. Never mind how but think of the untold stories of hope and lives restored, families reunited and strengthened.
