A total of eight (8) PRES micro-grid plants in Masbate were turned-over to their corresponding Cooperatives as of May 2016. These are part of the 154 micro-grid plants constructed by NPC in Masbate and Ticao under the Philippine Rural Electrification Service (PRES) Project. A Micro-Grid system-is a low voltage (240V) network serving a small cluster of load (less than 15 kW) both owned and operated by National Power Corporation.
The Barangay Line Enhancement Program (BLEP) and Sitio Electrification Program (SEP) of the National Electrification Administration (NEA) has reached the locations of the 8 PRES micro grid plants of NPC. Thus, the consumers connected to the micro grid plants were transferred to the cooperative distribution system. Thereby, enjoying 24/7 hours service compared to the 5 hours daily operations of the PRES micro grid plants.
