24-HOUR POWER SERVICE FOR LUBANG ISLAND (25 Mar. 2008)
The completion of the Powerhouse Expansion & Installation of 2 x 500 kW Additional Capacity Genset Units at Lubang Diesel Power Plant paved the way for the 24-hour power supply in the island municipality of Lubang, province of Occidental Mindoro.
The project was inaugurated last March 25 by President Cyril C. Del Callar, along with Vice President Lorenzo S. Marcelo of the Small Power Utilities Group and Lubang Mayor Juan M. Sanchez.
The expansion project started last August 13, 2007. The total cost of the project amounted to P25.75M. It included the installation and construction of 2 x 500 kW additional capacity genset units, powerhouse extension and the transfer of the existing switchyard area.
The 2 genset units will augment the old existing 5 units which have a combined rated capacity of 1850 kW and dependable of 450 kW.
Prior to the inauguration, Lubang DPP was operating 16 hours per day with a maximum system demand of 330 kW. With the additional capacity of 1000 kW, Lubang DPP can now accommodate the projected increase in demand of 700 kW this 2008.
